Vimic - a Novel Toolbox for Spatial sound Processing in Max/MSP
نویسندگان
چکیده
ViMiC (Virtual Microphone Control) is a new toolbox for real-time synthesis of spatial sounds, particularly for concert situations and sound installations, and especially for larger or non-centralized audiences. Based on the concept of virtual microphones positioned within a virtual 3D room, ViMiC supports loudspeaker reproduction up to 24 discrete loudspeaker channels whereby the loudspeakers do not necessarily have to be placed uniformly and equidistant around the audience. Through the integrated Open Sound Control protocol (OSC), ViMiC is easily accessed and manipulated.

MnM: a Max/MSP mapping toolbox
In this report, we describe our development on the Max/MSP toolbox MnM dedicated to mapping between gesture and sound, and more generally to statistical and machine learning methods. This library is built on top of the FTM library, which enables the efficient use of matrices and other data structures in Max/MSP. Mapping examples are described based on various matrix manipulations such as Single...
متن کاملSound spatialization across disciplines using virtual microphone control (ViMiC)
Background in Spatial Sound Perception and Synthesis. Spatial sound perception is an important process in how we experience sounds in our environment. This process is studied in the fields of otology, audiology, psychology, neuroscience and acoustical engineering. Its practical implications are notably found in communications, architectural acoustics, urban planning, film, media art and music. ...
متن کاملIntroduction of Dips3 (Version 2) for Max/MSP
DIPS (Digital Image Processing with Sound), was released publicly in 2000 in order to support the creation of interactive multimedia art. However, while it realizes sophisticated real-time image processing in the Max/ MSP environment and quite effective interaction between sound and visual events the number of DIPS users have been limited because DIPS is based on OpenGL technology and users are...
متن کاملDeveloping Tools for Studying Musical gestures within the Max/MSP/jitter Environment
We present the Musical Gestures Toolbox, a collection of Max/MSP/Jitter modules to help in qualitative and quantitative analysis of musical gestures. Examples are shown of how the toolbox is used for studying musical mimicry, such as ”air piano” performance, and expressive gestures of musicians.
متن کاملGabor , Multi - Representation Real - Time Analysis / Synthesis
This article describes a set of modules for Max/MSP for real-time sound analysis and synthesis combining various models, representations and timing paradigms. Gabor provides a unified framework for granular synthesis, PSOLA, phase vocoder, additive synthesis and other STFT techniques. Gabor’s processing scheme allows for the treatment of atomic sound particles at arbitrary rates and instants. G...
